- er zijn twee verschillen soorten afval in de wijk te zien: zwerfvuil en gedumpte voedselafval
- zwerfvuil omvat grootendeels papiertjes, plastic verpakkingen (soms nog met voedselresten), blikken of iets dergelijks
- gedumpte voedselafval omvat resten van snacks (b.v. patatzakjes) die meestal van passanten gedumpt worden en huislijke maaltijd resten (b.v. rijst & groente) & oud brood, welke vaak op dezelfde plek van enkele wijkbewoners gedumpt worden
- terwijl veele straten relatief vrij van zwerfvuil en voedselresten zijn, zijn er bepaalde straten waar het een echt probleem vertoont omdat er elke dag veel zwerfvuil en/of voedselafval op straat, het trottoir en in geveltuinen ligt
- tot nu tu lijkt het grootse probleem het dumpen van huislijke maaltijd resten
- bijzonders straten aan de wijkgrens langs groenstrepen en brede straaten worden vaak als dumpplekken gebruikt (achter of naast bomen)
Markt Afrikaanderplein
– voedselresten van de markt vooral op woensdag avond/ donderdag ochtens te vinden
– donderdag ochtend zijn er groente en fruiten resten te vinden, vaak liggen voedselresten in de bak van de bomen die langs de markt staan
- vooraal langs de Pretorialaan zijn er vaak plat gestampte groenteresten en enkele hele fruiten en groentes te vinden
- de plaats naast de Paul Krugerstraat lijkt iets schoner, maar hier zit de voedselafval vaak onder de auto's
Boven: Odry en Tuinvrouw Marianne van het rattenteam laten het gevonden afval uit een boomspiegel zien
Boven: de oogst rond om het Markt van een enkel ochtend
Pretorialaan
- in de struiken langs de straat ligt vaak zwerfvuil
- voedselafval is hier meestal als rest in de verpakkingen te vinden
Afrikaanderpark
- veel zwerfvuil in de struiken; grotendeels verpakkingsresten van snacks (chips, patatzakken), dranken (meestal blikken) etc., af en toe zitten er nog voedselresten in
- Paul van de Duimdrop op het Afrikaanderpark bericht dat er voraal passanten afval dumpen die net van de markt komen
Hilledijk
- in het hele groenstreep naast de Hilledijk worden er regelmatig maatijdresten en (soms bergen van) brood gevonden
- bewooners melden dat het meestal bejaarde bewoners zijn, die de voedselresten vanuit het geloof niet in de afvalbak willen gooien omdat het zonde voor hun is
Boven: Berg van brood met gehakt en rijstresten
Martinus de Stijnstraat
– meerdere bewoners melden dat er vaker restafval naast de afvalcontainers ligt, na een hele maand observatie lijkt het wel minder te zijn dan door bewoners waargenomen
- op zich zijn er niet vaak voedselresten op straat en trottoir te vinden
Christiaan de Wetstraat
- bewoners berichten dat er vaker voedselresten uit de ramen van de vier flatgebouwen geworpen worden (ik heb het zelf nooit gebeuren zien)
- wel meer voedselafval en zwerfvuil te zien dan in omliggende straten, bijzonders naast het flatgebouw
Tweebosstraat
- opvallend veel broodresten op het noordelijke eind van de straat in het groenstreepje naast de bomen te vinden
- resten van snacks en fruiten werden er vaker in de geveltuinen gevonden
Goede-Hoopstraat, Transvaalstraat & Kaapstraat:
- opvallend veel zwerfvuil op straat en trottoir - resten van snacks (patat, döner enz.) en fruiten in geveltuinen en op trottoir regelmatig te zien
- aan de hoek van de putselaan en de Transvaalstraat word vaker restafval naast de container gezet
Boven: Afval naast de afvalcontainers in de Transvaalstraat zo te zien op 10-10-17
Boven: Kinderen uit de wijk helpen tuinman Stanley in de Transvaalstraat zaden uit de geveltuinen verzamelen in de Transvaalstraat
